The timber for this chair made from Scottish Ash grew in the clients back garden, which I had kilned. I made six chairs and an extra spec one for myself. Its appearance is very Arts & Crafts, with high back also making a nod to Charles Rennie MacIntosh and, again, three curved back slats make this a comfortable chair. The clients stipulated that the seat bottoms be solid Ash, as at the time they had young children. I went on to sell this to a fellow 3 Harbours Festival artist. She has a small flat and wanted an extra chair, for which she made some very lovely cushions.
