Dining Chair With White Fabric Seat

This chair was an extra spec piece, of which I made four for a client. The design is reminiscent of Arts & Crafts style. When at university, my lecturer told us that an odd number of back slats works better on the eye, making it more aesthetically pleasing. The back joints on chairs take the most abuse, so by curving the legs out at the mortise, we have created a longer tenon, thus increasing the glue surface, which makes for a stronger joint. The seat angles back a few degrees, as does the back legs, above seat height. This makes the seat extremely comfortable with the curved back slats providing the right amount of lumbar support. There is also a slight fleck to these slats for added comfort.

There are two of these chairs for sale, which can be found here. They can be reupholstered with any suitable fabric.
