Oak Sculptured Front Door

The client who commissioned this front door had an extension designed by my father. The house is in the coastal village of North Berwick. I designed it with a European Oak Frame and door styles, then made the door panels from Tulipwood. I textured the front of panels in this wavy, beach like pattern. Each section of wood was randomly shaped on the bandsaw, then glued up, and finally hours of sanding was done to get the finished, smooth result. Once the door was fitted, the client’s wife asked how I knew she worked for the Church of Scotland, referencing the cross-like shape on the side glass panel design. We went on to make a conservatory in a similar design.
